Driving: If you intend to drive on the island, you should know the following:
• In Curaçao we drive on the RIGHT side of the road
• You can NOT make a right turn at a red light
• At roundabouts, the car on the INSIDE of the roundabout has the right of way.
• Be mindful of cars on the INSIDE making a right turn in front of you when you are on the outside.
• And be aware of the car on the OUTSIDE not following this rule!
• At a T-intersection, traffic from both the left and right have the right-of-way
• It would be wise to download offline maps of Curaçao
• Both Google Maps and Maps.me work well offline
• At gas stations, you pay at the window FIRST
*** If you get into an accident, DO NOT MOVE THE CAR AT ALL. Do NOT call the police. Call your rental company to let them know and then call FORENSYS. You can reach them at 9233 (or +5999 461 3282). An accident “inspector” will come to assess the scene and take statements. If your car has been moved, insurance may be declined.
