A Curaçao-born artist, Nena Sanchez (1943–2017) was known for her vibrant depictions of Caribbean life, painting colorful flowers, wildlife, and island scenes. She first gained recognition at 18 when her artwork was exhibited in Mexico and the Caribbean. After years abroad, she returned to Curaçao, where she developed her signature bright and joyful style. Her legacy lives on through her art galleries in Punda and at the historic Landhuis Jan Kok, where visitors can still experience her work today.
